Are you qualified?
Yes, I hold the City and Guilds Level 3 Certificate in dog grooming. I also hold a first class bachelors degree in Bioveterinary Science from the University of the West of England.

Can I stay with my dog?
I am more than willing to allow you to come and visit the studio and have a look around before the groom. However, it is much easier to groom a dog with no distractions. Dogs tend to behave better when the cannot see their owners, meaning the job can be done much more quickly and stress free!

How often does my dog need grooming?
The answer to this is different for every dog. It depends on their breed, coat type, condition and the style you wish for them to maintain. Dogs which have styled coats tend to be groomed on average every 6 to 10 weeks. However, grooming should always be continued at home with regular brushing to avoid matts and tangles.

Do you use cage dryers?
No, at Smart Dog Studio we use heat-adjustable high velocity hand dryers to dry your dogs coat quickly and easily to the desired style.

When can my puppy be groomed?
My puppy package is available for puppies after their first vaccinations are completed, normally around 3-4 months. A puppies first full groom however would not be necessary until their adult coat comes through, this is dependent on the breed.

What does a full groom involve?
A full groom at Smart Dog Studio involves ear hair removal, ear and eye cleaning, nail clipping, washing, conditioning, high velocity blowdrying, de-matting/brushing, hair removal from hygiene areas, styling with clippers and/or scissors and finally application of cologne products as requested.

My dog can be aggressive, can it be groomed?
As Smart Dog Studio is a one to one groomers I aim to keep a relaxed environment, muzzles are only used as a last resort. Un-groomable dogs are rare however dogs which become very stressed and too aggressive to handle may not be able to be completed. This will usually become apparent with the first 10 minutes of the groom and you will be contacted as soon as possible.
